The City of West Tawakoni Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C Misdemeanors and City Ordinance Violations that occur within the corporate city limits and are punishable by fine only. This includes traffic, state law, city ordinance, and parking violations. The court conducts preliminary and pretrial hearings and trials, collects fines and court costs and issues warrants of arrest.

James H. Barnett
Municipal Court Judge

Judge Barnett was appointed by the West Tawakoni City Council on August 23, 2011 to serve as the Muncipal Court Judge. Prior to that Judge Barnett served as Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4 in Hunt County for approximately 12 years.

Tresa Pendleton
Municipal Court Clerk

Ms. Pendleton serves as Municipal Court Clerk for the City of West Tawakoni part-time. Prior to her employment here she worked part-time for the City of East Tawakoni for two years as Water Clerk and assisted with Municipal Court. She retired from the City of Greenville after 25 years of service working in Accounting, Municipal Court, Executive Secretary for City Manager, and Human Resource Officer.

Dwayne L. Hall
Municipal Court Assistant

Started my time at the City of West Tawakoni in June of 2013. At the time I was hired as Code Compliance Officer, with additional duties for the West Tawakoni Police Department. I served in that capacity for three years. In January of 2016 I was appointed to be Municipal Court Assistant helping with collections of outstanding traffic citations and supporting the Municipal Court each month. I am still the Administrative Assistant to the Police Department, doing Sex Offender Registrations, transporting evidence to and from the DPS Crime Lab and preparing and delivering case files to the District and County Attorney Offices. I currently serve as Chairman of the West Tawakoni Planning & Zoning Commission, as well as Chairman of the Hunt County Lake Tawakoni Planning & Zoning Commission and I am a member of the Tawakoni Volunteer Fire Department.
